Tuesday, May 6th – Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center – New York, NY
In Search of Garaj Mahal with The University of Cincinnati – Conservatory of Music Jazz Ensemble Featuring special guest: Fareed Haque – Two Shows: 7:30 & 9:30 – Buy Tickets – here!

This is the culmination of a huge project initiated by Scott Belck and the CCM jazz ensemble and faculty.
Scott approached me about a year ago with the idea of their grad students and faculty arranging and recording a whole pile of Garaj Mahal tunes for Big Band. And so we worked out a time, and i sent em some lead sheets and recordings and a year later sure enough
there are now BIG BAND arrangements of some of Garaj’s coolest funkiest tunes – Hindi Gumbo, The Shadow, Alvin and many more.
In addition to a funk sound, some of the tunes are definitely more Mahal than Garaj, with a world music feel – Sitar Guitar, Nylon String Guitar, in addiiton to Electric Guitar, Jazz guitar, Moog Guitar. What a cool sound! So please come out to this special special event. Garaj LIVES ON!!
