Historic Red Rocks Event Featuring Virtuosos Of Psychedelic Music and Art
Denver, CO – In a celebration of Community and Inspiration, the next generation of music producers, painters and pranksters is convening at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on Saturday May 16, 2015. Highly regarded electronic music pioneer Tipper, mystic visionary artist Alex Grey, and their extended tribe of fellow neo-artisans are bringing a caravan of psychedelic offerings for an audio-visual feast never before presented at this historic venue.
Convening in the same spirit that permeates community gatherings at transformational events nationally, these occasions are becoming more and more the norm, and attendees can expect a cornucopia of energy, light, sound, and color akin to a single day at Burning Man. Industry insiders are buzzing with the news that this presentation featuring underground music and art is attracting ticket buyers from all over the nation, and at current pace will sell out well in advance. Tipper headlines many of these festivals, where his music is well received by the culture of caring and co-creation.

David Tipper, or Tipper for short, is a British composer and producer specializing in electronic music that ranges from ambient through trip hop, to midtempo glitch hop and genre defying uptempo dance floor that can only be described as Tippermusic. Active since the 1990’s, he has released twelve albums, ten EP’s, and boasts a catalogue that contains a 5.1 surround sound DVD release alongside vinyl LP’s that are still collected and valued to this day. Unusual in this day and age, Tipper is known for participating very minimally with the press and media opportunities, preferring to let his music and performances to be the focus of his work. Accordingly, his passionate fan-base assembles enthusiastically for his not too frequent appearances, as each one promises new and unreleased music that is the staple of his shows.

Alex Grey is an American artist specializing in spiritual and psychedelic art (or visionary art) that is sometimes associated with the New Age movement. He met his wife, the artist Allyson Grey in the mid 1970’s, and during this period he had a series of entheogenically induced mystical experiences that transformed his agnostic existentialism to a radical transcendentalism. His unique series of 21 life-sized paintings, the Sacred Mirrors (to be on display at the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors in Wappinger, New York), takes the viewer on a journey toward their own divine nature by examining, in detail, the mind, body, and spirit.

Tipper Ambient Set @ CoSM – Jan 4, 2015
Tipper performed an All Original set of his own ambient music at the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors. 150 blessed souls braved the snow, and attended from as far away as Salt Lake City for this occasion. Alex and Allyson Grey painted live, and Johnathan Singer presented this Visual Manipulation of their work in real time with Tipper.
Highlighting his unique range of output, Tipper will present two sets that Saturday night. In his first performance starting just before sunset, he will collaborate with live projection artist Johnathan Singer who will be manipulating Alex Grey’s art on a very large projection sculpture while Alex and Allyson also paint on stage. To close the evening, Tipper’s second performance will feature his uptempo music, this time collaborating with electromineralist projection artist Android Jones on a separate and equally distinct projection sculpture. Andrew ‘Android’ Jones has created live art around the world, including digital visual art projections from the Sydney Opera House in Australia to the Ghats in Varanasi in India.

Following Tipper’s first set is Kansas City based performance troupe, the mesmerizing Quixotic, who were given Silicon Valley’s unofficial stamp of genius when they were invited to perform at TED Talks in Long Beach in 2012. A unique blend of projection mapping, artistic dance, aerialists, and specialty acts, Quixotic fuses all these elements in to a cohesive art form that has taken them around the globe performing for audiences worldwide, and helping launch brand products for companies such as IBM and Bulgari. Their projection mapping project for the city of Kansas City on the massive Union Station train terminal is particularly notable.

Direct music support for Tipper’s second set, Ott is also a British record producer and musician who has worked with Sinead O’ConnorThe Orb, and Brian Eno. He has produced, mixed and recorded music released on Twisted Records, including various collaborations with Simon Posford (aka Shpongle or Hallucinogen). The musical cast is rounded out by IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) favorites LusineEVAC, and Ion Driver, all selected personally by Tipper to set the afternoon and evening ideally for his first performance at Sunset.

There will be live painting all evening on the Upper Level Plaza featuring other painters from the visionary art movement, and also separate commemorative posters on offer from both Android Jones, and Alex & Allyson Grey. The legacy of love and kinship united in music and the moment is still alive and well, and being carried forward through experiences such as this one being curated for the next generation of caring souls coming together to celebrate in their own evolutionary way.
